Emergency School Closings
Emergency School Closings

Inclement weather, natural disasters, and local emergencies can cause Hesston schools to be closed. In USD 460, the decision to cancel school or dismiss classes early is made by the superintendent, in consultation with the supervisor of operations and transportation.

There are various means by which parents, students, and patrons are notified of school cancellations.

TV - School closings are announced on channels 3 (KSNW), 10 (KAKE) and 12 (KWCH).

RADIO - School closings are announced on ten area FM radio stations: KFDI 101.3 (AM 1070), KFTI 92.3, KHCC 90.1, KHUT 102.9, KHMY 93.1, KSKU 97.1, KTHR 107.3, KXKU 106.1, KZCH 96.3, and KZSN 102.1.

NEWSPAPER - The Wichita Eagle will post school cancellations when applicable.

INTERNET - School closings are posted on this web site and an email notification is sent to all active users of the Infinite Campus parent portal.

OTHER - When school is dismissed early on a school day, students are informed by their teachers or by an all-school announcement. In some individual cases, parents may be called.
